How Many Times Can You Check Your Oil

Been there, done that. Not 11 times, but 4-5 sometimes. Some dipsticks seem to be oil phobic - oil doesn't wet it very well. Also if the tube has some bends, it can screw up the reading as the tube wipes the dipstick. If the oil is clean, more problems. We own a few Chryslers and they all...

Using SD card only for motion capture, standalong operation? Possible?

Thanks - yes a 2.8mm could work. The Flir FX has 160 deg FOV, nice that I can cover 3+ house widths on my street. Image is exceptional but it's the rest of the stuff it doesn't do well. Does the dome not have the POE brick?

Using SD card only for motion capture, standalong operation? Possible?

Thanks, I was wondering if that large brick was the POE converter. Arrgh, so confusing, been wanting a Hikvision camera for a while but couldn't justify setting up a powerful PC to run BI for my meager needs. Once I found a possible standalone solution with the SD card I'm ready to buy but...

Using SD card only for motion capture, standalong operation? Possible?

Thanks for the info on the turret not having an SD card - I can stop looking now :) You mention the bullet is china region only but then say I should get a US region camera. This one claims to be english region. Would it be affected by the 2032F problem...

Using SD card only for motion capture, standalong operation? Possible?

For the Hikvision cameras with built in SD card, can I use it to capture motion triggers automatically to the SD card and have it overwrite old data when full in a standalone install? Background - I have some cheap Dlink 930 cameras and love them other than their narrow FOV. I also have a FLIR...

Hikvision 2032F On Camera SD Card Recording Setup Info?

Right now I have a FLIR FX camera and it's not doing the job, not real happy with everything going into the cloud and also having triggering issues at night. Seems this Hikvision will work like a dashcam - write to the onboard SD card when motion is detected and overwrite when full. I just...

How to get activex to work? Tried IE, Mozilla

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Okay, I did buy one of these but the bullet version and it does take snapshots every XX seconds and ftp's them. Video quality is very good - I am impressed with this camera. Going to use this as my weathercam. I'll start another thread on an issue I am having with it though (can't get activex...

    DS-20322WD-i 2MP Exir turret

What is the specific pn? The OP's pn doesn't match anything. I'm getting all confused with fw, 4mp, 3mp, etc. If the 2mp has great night images and they're cheaper I think I'll start with them instead.

    A View of Silicon Valley

Is it soft throughout the zoom range? I know with 35mm cameras and telescopes, it's tough to keep focus good out to the edges - optics get really expensive. Zoom lenses add even more complexity/cost to keep it good. For this price point, it's probably as good as it will get.

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Thanks! Once I switched to IE instead of Chrome, the language box showed up. So I tried iSpy and CMS on this lowly J1900 CPU box and CMS was the most stable. Played with a bunch of settings and then tried out my lens assortment. Found the stock lens on my TOP-201 isn't so great - lots of...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Tonight I plugged the camera directly into my laptop instead of going through my DDWRT flashed router and it's alive on 192.168.1.10! So DDWRT is blocking something which is odd as I would think port 80 would be clear. Login screen is in Chinese :)

    Why the firmware upgrades?

Excellent question - something I was going to ask! Now, given this info, is there a definite Hik model to stay away from because the current software has an issue? Or is there a specific version of software one should look for?

No, right now it's only a new Win 8.1 machine, router with ddwrt, and this Top-201 camera. I didn't want to expose my home network to any questionable software while I was setting things up. JDWX - I tried ONVIF and that didn't work last night either. Sabot - thanks for the tip on Netscan...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Sorry for the newbie questions. I bought one of the OP's cameras from Buyincoin and am trying to set it up tonight. Out of the box should I be able to ping or connect to it with a web browser pointed to 192.168.1.10? If so, I think I got a dud. iSpy can't see it, CMS can't see it, no ping...

Wanted: Good value outdoor wifi camera as a weathercam

I was getting all excited about the $20 720p IP camera but saw it won't do timed FTP transfers and only D1 resolution upon motion trigger. HD analog vs ip camera (looking at this Qsee system)

Yes. Choosing 'main menu' on the Qsee I was presented with a window with clearly named icons with text of all the choices I had, and each was separated by their global function. It was completely intuitive where I needed to go to get to a particular function. The Lorex system, I choose 'Main...
