Remember guys it's not a competition over who has the most secrets or is the best hacker. All you guys are awesome. It's us versus Hikvision. I can't stop anyone who is determined to release tools etc but all it does is screw us in the long run and actually help Hikvision. Maybe I missed... -

We're not trying to protect Hikvision and their stupid region locking - as I say they don't even bother adhering to GPL. Just maybe not tell Hikvision what weaknesses their are, and thereby what they need to change to make it even harder :) Let's not be a research team helping them improve... -

You're totally right montecrypto - they do play fast and loose with GPL and it's variants. Being a Chinese company doesn't excuse them from following licensing terms. Even in the kernel they have their own code and as such are obligated to release the entire source of all of if requested... -

You're clearly a man with lots of skills :) I'm just a little worried that if answers are posted in the open will just make Hikvision sign the firmware with a RSA private key just like they have with another model. We're effectively helping Hikvision make their stupid security measures better... -

Agree with everything badmannen said. It will be English (and may well have Multi Language also even if not stated). You won't get official Hikvision support and it might not be upgradable but only you can judge if that's really important for you/the intended purpose. If the price difference... -

Yes mine are the same 16 character limit for FTP user name. Whereas on my 2xx2 cameras the limit is 32 characters. Don't know why Hikvision did that one. The limit is client side though so you can probably override it with some javascript changes. Or you could try setting it via the SDK free... -

You can reset to defaults and camera is still English + Multi Language That should also allow the camera to work with English EZVIZ if it didn't out the box. Camera should work fine with iVMS -

Hikvision - DS-2CD2335-I - Compatable NVRs
The 2xx5/3xx5 cameras come already hacked to English + Multi Language and should work with world region NVRs. Don't change the firmware on them though otherwise could indeed get language mismatch. -

I have a 4mm camera (2135 which is same type if not exact same model) firmware 5.3.6 build 151221 and I don't have that problem. Have you tried resetting configuration back to defaults? If that doesn't fix it I'd return it as is sounds faulty given that you have no problem on your other... -

I just got 2 cameras with these manufactured dates and serials: - 02 November 2015 serial 550762*** - 04 March 2016 serial 577302*** If the devices they make have consecutive serial numbers (i.e. they use all of them) which I thought was the case, then that means they made around 27 million... -

I hadn't thought of that - but that would also be another good reason if they are using external people for it. If that's the case and the files you are not supposed to share appear on the Internet that's the end of your relationship with the firmware developers and your business is knackered. -
