Cabling: Tools rough draft #1. Opinions/Suggestions desired.

Just to add, Here in Florida, the single-story split floor plan is very common. Meaning the middle of the home is typically the main room and each end are bedrooms. The main room almost always has a vaulted ceiling for cooling with scissor trusses. In the average size home, the space between...

POE camera installation - how are you guys running wires?

A fish rod set is a good tool to have for running low voltage wires. Klein tools and others make them, and they can be a real time saver and get wire to places you thought were impossible. I would also invest in some good low voltage drill bits, 18 inch or longer. These bits have a small hole at...

    Odd camera behavior

I get what you are saying, but I am at a disadvantage since my knowledge of network security and VPNs are very sparse and/or outdated. It's easy to get frustrated when you don't have a grasp on the subject. I also don't have the budget for the recommended device at the current time, so I either...

Scroll and look harder Luke. Use the Force You would think you could use the site search function or even the good old page search (CTRL + F) to locate anything to do with WireGuard, but nope and it's buried 1/2 way down the product page under advanced VPN. NOT very intuitive as far as I'm...

I looked at the Asus website, unless I'm missing it, nowhere in the specs or features for any model I looked at listed WireGuard.

    Odd camera behavior

We have a wonderful AT&T Wi-Fi gateway, they don't offer a modem only, at least in our area. Did I mention we have VERY little options for internet? So, I would have to add another router to be able to manage devices on the network beyond their equipment

    Odd camera behavior

Just did a refresher course on the Lorex Cloud app. I can't be 100% positive, but I believe we are using P2P for connection as it was setup using the device ID. Funny, because the one video I watched, SmartPSS is part of the name of the filename. I presume it's a Lorex branded version of the...

    Odd camera behavior

Just to add, the wife just reminded me of a similar incident back in 2022 with the same camera, where it lost presets and was pointing at the ground when we woke up. Don't know if it is related or not

    Odd camera behavior

We don't have many choices for internet service here, but the one that we are using provides the equipment with a router built in. The NVR is connected to the router like my network printers are. The software that is used to access the NVR locally via laptop in the Lorex Cloud app. Lorex Cloud...

    Odd camera behavior

Much of these suggestions are above my pay grade. How is the typical NVR set up to provide access to a mobile device on a cell service? I presume if a device (laptop, etc.) has access to the same LAN as the NVR, it's just a matter of knowing the IP address to access it. How does a smartphone...

    Odd camera behavior

I doubt it was a reset of the camera since there were presets that I set from 2020 still in the PTZ function, just not the new presets which were added in the last few months. If a camera reset was done, none of those presets would exist.

    Odd camera behavior

I'm a little unsure what you're asking here. All camera GUI access is done through the NVR GUI via the IE icon. The NVR has a static IP address

    Odd camera behavior

I presume you're hinting at outside control from someone who may have found a way in?

    Odd camera behavior

I honestly don't know. I set this up in 2020 using the Lorex Cloud app to access to the NVR remotely. I can't remember how it all works.

    Odd camera behavior

This morning, I woke up to one of the PTZ cameras displaying invalid password screen on the monitor. I log into the NVR GUI and try to reconnect it by re-entering the password, no luck, it still showed the same screen. I then click the E icon to log into the camera's GUI. The camera log in...

Is HFW5442E-Z4E similar to Empiretech B54IR-Z4E?

By the way, what the latest firmware for this camera, anyone know? Were there improvements in updates? I believe this camera may be early version firmware.

Is HFW5442E-Z4E similar to Empiretech B54IR-Z4E?

The specs listed in the description are all over the place. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the info given is incorrect. The one I received definitely is a Z4E with a zoom of 8mm - 32mm. It's printed on the box and camera and with it zoomed all the way out, the FOV is roughly half of what my...

Is HFW5442E-Z4E similar to Empiretech B54IR-Z4E?

I guess it will work for now. I was really hoping this was an S3 version because as seen by your own review, there is a big improvement in image quality between the 2. Maybe I should donate it to someone if they are willing to pay shipping.
