Hi everybody,

I have a Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2 NVR in which I have had several DS-2CD2142FWD plus another Hikvision PTZ which model I do not remember right now for years without problems.

I recently acquired a DS-2CD1121G0 to substitute the PTZ which looks bricked (more on that probably in another thread) but I am having some problems adding it to the NVR.

I have set the IP static on the same range as the other cams, and copied all the rest of parameters (ports, gateway, subnet mask, protocol, management port, HTTP port etc.) but in the NVR config it still throws me a Parameter Error.

Running SADP I can observe that somehow the camera appears as non compatible with IPv6, therefore the IPv6 fields are empty, plus the software version difers from the 2CD2142FWDs, which is v5.4.5build170124 - the 2CD1121G0 appears running on v5.7.12build230614, while the NVR runs on v3.4.62build160503.

Edit - Additional info - I use the v5.1.7 of Safari to visualize the cameras through the NVR interface without a problem, can open all them individually via their IPs, but this newer 2CD1121G0 throws me an incompatibility error. Not sure if relevant but better to add the info i think.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

I am concerned regarding localization for the firmware, (I am in Indonesia) wouldn't like to screw up the existing setup... do you guys know if by installing EU firmware could cause incompatibilities down the road?

Update - I have talked with the seller and after some proposed changes in the config he also gave up and just asked me to send him back the cam, he's supposed to fiddle with the settings and send it back to me once its linkable to the E series NVRs. Once he does (hopefully) I will report back what was the problem so if there is anybody else with the same problem can know what is all about.

The problem is within NVR old firmware.
I agree it might most probably be that, as the vendor confirmed that the cam model was indeed compatible with my NVR model. Now the camera is on the way back to him so let's see how this progresses.

Is h.265 enabled on the camera? The E-series NVRs don't support that codec.
Something baffles me though, in the NVR GUI (direct TV connected to the NVR, not the remote PC one) there is an option that I show below:

Now I am confused if h.265 is supported or not, perhaps partially (?)

It’s probably too late but would be curious as to what you observe using IPv4 vs IPv6.

Honestly this last cam I have purchased is the first that do not have/support IPv6 address, not sure what is the difference, i would also be interested to know, as far as my experience go I have always set the IPv4 addresses and never touched anything IPv6 related, including the setup of various large CCTV systems, perhaps the more veterans of the forum can shed some light on this, interesting.

My apologies, I misread your initial post as you had been using IPv6 instead of IPv4! What you stated was the SADP tool did not show any IPv6 information.

Ignore my first comment as it relates to IPv6 because this would have sent you down the wrong path and endless rabbit hole. ‍♂

No apologize needed, it is actually a great question! As far as I understand IPv6 just provides a bunch more available IP addresses than IPv4 but besides that I don't know what are the differences, like I've said, I never ever have touched anything IPv6 related and always limited myself to fiddle with comprehensive IPv4 address ranges that made sense to me, and while I have set quite big CCTV systems I never have found the need to resource to manipulate anything on IPv6 level.

I believe IPV6 can also be a static wan ip address unlike ipv4 where you have WAN and LAN addresses separated

UPDATE: Vendor reported all fine on his side just doing a Plug n Play connection, therefore I am inclined to think is a firmware issue as @trempa92 pointed.

Will update firmware as I receive the cam again and post here the results.
