That's what I am thinking since my clip file sizes are pretty consistent. The data is there just not viewable. Seems i'm getting several blotches of grey during a playback and then it creates a new clip that plays back black.
I Just noticed on mine that was black this morning. If I reset the camera and my playback is fixed for awhile.. If I view A black screen playback. When I scroll forward to a new viewable part of the clip.. and then scroll backwards I can see the part that was black before.. Anyone else?
I'm Also really having a hard time with h265 now. Added a new 5231 camera last night and woke up to black recordings. reset it but on motion now goes to grey . Going to change them back to 264 i guess. Crazy thing is it is not all my cameras.
I too am getting the black screen on record playback but only on 2 of my 5 cams.. I will try and look into the settings.. All are on .265 . I found the issue this morning and Couldn't find a fix so I reset all cams by dropping power to the poe switch and all were playing back fine when I went...

I5 to I7 is not going to make that much difference in performance..
You might Try shutting down real time anti-virus scanning and see what happens to the cpu usage..
OK, so now I realize that this was not a BI issue but happened because I changed my 2 main cams to record continuously several days ago.. Before that all cams were still on motion and was not filling the allocated spaces. FYI should anyone else experience this.
All good now..
