    Building a B.I, dedicated Intel i-9 system.

https://pcpartpicker.com/ Choose your processor make sure you have sort by compatibility checked and have fun. Asus is good, so is MSI. Figure out what features you want and go the the manufacturers website and compare motherboards to make your decision. Ram is ram. The clock speeds and...

    Thanks

I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for sharing their knowledge. I recently installed a 9 camera Blue Iris system and couldn't have done it without this forum. The wiki was extremely helpful in avoiding common mistakes. The videos by Dasstrum were exceptionally helpful in optimizing and...

    3990X & Blueirs thoughts ?

    3990X & Blueirs thoughts ?

If I ever get it figured out I'll report back. Edit: So I attached a pic of CPU usage during remote viewing through the BI android app. It does at one point peak to 89% but generally operates between 55%-75%. I had a computer with a I5-4690 collecting dust but I messed up buying parts for a...

    3990X & Blueirs thoughts ?

Some screenshots. I'm really pleased with the performance so far for a system that costs under $500, excluding hard drives, and duplicating to 2 TV's/monitors not like that makes much difference. If a new 4000 series APU does release later this year that will give me a great upgrade path in the...

    3990X & Blueirs thoughts ?

I'm running 8- 8mp cameras with a 2200G ($77) continuous recording at about 25% idle and 50% when viewing clips. A 3990X may be able to handle like 2 more cameras  So far only laptop processors have been announced for Ryzen 4000, a price drop may take a while considering the latest pricing...

25 cams on i5 3.3Ghz 15GB RAM - system at absolute limit. How do I get more capacity out of it without replacing it with new?

Upgrading very old prebuilt PCs tends to become sunk cost fallacy. Make sure you download the newest bios updates before upgrading your processor. You could just buy another Dell OptiPlex 3020 i5-4590 ($130) for the same price of a used i7-4790 ($115) and another version of BI puts you at...

Hard drive (HDD) failure rates 2019

I'd say Seagate stands out as having the highest failure rate.

Hard drive (HDD) failure rates 2019

A cloud storage center published the failure rate of the various drives they used, no WD's. Most published articles list the manufacturer as if all hard drives are built equally and come off as advertisements. So it's usually pretty hard to find up to date information that isn't vague, this...

Blue Iris PIP (Picture in Picture) on TV when motion detected...

You should search for an HDMI multiviewer but this is a great idea. I'm just starting to put together my system but I will definitely incorporate something like this. Amazon.com: hdmi multiviewer: Electronics
