I can't use a fixed camera as LPR because the site has 2-3 acces points and also because a car can be parked anywhere around the perimeter during the night. The place is poorly lit unfortunately... Maybe I should install some motion-triggered floodlights also?
You mean "buy the NVR"?

LPR will be an easier task for my PTZ since I am more interested in capturing plates of cars that are stopped around the construction site or inside the site, during the night. I don't care for moving cars, they pose no threat. But from what I read I need a separate camera for that, so that...
That file you sent is awesome! I'm gonna study it tonight as the info inside is very well structured and concise.
Regarding your Dahua suggestion...I am reluctant to get Dahua products, as they have very little presence in my country, so I have very few choices both as products and also as...
Hey guys
I come here for help, since I am lost in the specs of the hundreds of cameras available from Hikvision. And the specs aren't confusing, but I fear that my choices and the usage scenario may not be the best match.
I am looking to buy some cameras to watch a small construction site. The...
Thanks for the tip!
I'll try creating manual port forwarding rules, maybe even change the default port for accesing the camera...see what happens.

Thought Hikvision's equivalent to Dahua's Starlight was called "Darkfighter"... or is Ultra Low Light just another name for Darkfighter technology?

Also...how do they both compare to the Dahua Starlight turret?
Is their night vision signifficantly worse? ...like 100 bucks worth, worse? :)

In the Hik-Connect app this is the version...also shows no updates available.
The camera is accesible via internet using the Hik-Connect app, or using Synology's DS Cam to access the recordings (the camera stores video on a Synology DS214)
UPnP is enabled on the router...and I am pretty sure...
Hey guys
I have a weird problem with a recently purchased Hikvision DS-2CD2442FWD-IW
Once a few hours / days, it changes the recording resolution from 4MP to something like 640x480 or even lower...see the attached images.
I can't figure out what triggers this, and I can't revert it back...
Ok, i'll check them out. NVRs do an adequate job in my situation.
All the extra functionality of Blue Iris is overkill for my needs, I think...

I was refering to looney2ns' link...with that 2k. Not your suggestion. That's pretty good and I think i'll try one to see if it does the job.
Any suggestions for a NVR?

Show me how to get at least 16 cameras for my club, from the ones mentioned in that link, with a budget of 2k... and I'll order them tomorrow.
The fisheye alone is almost 1000 eur...
On-topic...in my first post, that's where I mentioned budget. And it's around 3k, more or less...depending on...
That solution from Dahua is really cool and they seem to have everything covered...
...BUT...
The reason I mentioned a budget is because I don't want to spend an entire years' profit on surveillance cameras :)) Have you seen the price of the (otherwise really cool) cameras in their solution...
Yeah...it's dim lighting the entire time that the video is relevant and needed mostly.
During the day when all the lights are on, a 2MP no-name camera worth 20 EUR will do the job of identifying suppliers and amount of crates of alcohol and beer being delivered, but...although sometimes that...
