Dahua Tripwire/Intrusion/ SMD advice

These are the (IPC-HDW5231R-Z) cameras. I’ve never updated the firmware because “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” reasoning.

Tripwire and intrusion seem to work ok. They are just easily triggered by birds, or bugs at night due to the IR light.

I’m not sure if the 5231s can even be updated to AI FW? Kinda doubt it

Nope....don't have the oomph to run AI.

Not as much. I still run a 5216-16P-4KS2E and have no troubles with new cameras.

The real benefit of the newer NVRs is that they can do AI on the NVR vs having the camera do it. So there could be some benefit to you, but seriously you're a couple of years past the expiration date of the 5231 cameras. If you were to replace that with a 5442 series camera, you'd be amazed at the difference in image as well as functionality and it would work fine with your NVR

So it’s best to put the tripwire at the start of the driveway compared to mid way on the driveway? I will give this a go and see how I go with notifications

Also I’m assuming an intrusion would be best for this camera along the side of the house? With the outline being the concrete area?

All depends on what you want to accomplish. I show it using a one direction only filter. If you only want to know once they’re already 6ft inside your property then move it.

It requires some trial and error and you have to account for the 3D effect of where it hits the body and where the actual crossing point is.

Best to draw it and walk out there and test it , rinse/repeat

Again no rule book for every scene.

Try it and find out.

I’d do an intrusion along the walkway low and and zig zag tripwire covering the fence right to the top for bad guys coming over it

I also never rely on one single rule. Most always I have at least two rules covering any entrance. Usually a zig zag tripwire inside an intrusion box. I believe in overkill

Holy crap, that driveway looks pretty damn steep! That would never fly here. Someone would take a header and sue here

Drawing many lines can cause performance issues.
Mainly increased RAM usage on the camera itself.
