so im trying to get a dahua camera to connect to BI

T2431T

it appears in the config tool, i have 3 there
1 initialized at home that i brought here and hooked up to switch
1 initialized
1 uninitialized (showing same IP as one of the initialized ones)

when i try to add the camera to BI it doesnt work
even when i try to run the camera through VLC or put the IP into IE to see it, doesnt work

It sounds like you have an IP conflict and need to get one of them off the same IP address.

i changed IP, but still none of the cameras are showing in BI or VLC

Did you try entering the cam's ip address into your browser, and logging into the cam through the browser?
That should work.
With the dahua can I just got, you can even see the cam's image without loading any special software. On older dahau cams, you need a plug in to view the cam.

no it does not work, im not sure if its because im with rogers and they have that hitron modem that i cannot modify without calling ?
but when i searched with config tool it shows up

What is the IP address of the computer?

What is the IP address of the camera?

What is the IP address subnet your router is putting out?

well, internet company came by to swap modem and backup for new ones (updated) and he told me to change around where PC, etc are plugged in
good news now i am able to see the camera when plugged into the switch in IPCONFIG
i thought i had it all figured out !
but then i tried to add it to BI.. and no dice =(

camera is initialized and set up, when i use the find/inspect in BI, i see it pop up, when i click it and press OK, goes through inspection, httpget/request - time out, rtsp pot open, no auto confi made, done
and nothing

Can you login to the camera directly on it's internal web page? Perhaps you could answer the questions that @wittaj asked above! We need a bit more info if you want more than a wild guess!

no if i put in the default camera IP address into webpage it will not open.
192.168.1.108

this is going through that rogers router/satellite backup (cradlepoint)
i have some an NVR thats hooked up to the router, and i am able to connect to the camera's that are connected to the NVR by pulling the feed from NVR

Are you using the correct password? Default is admin.

Back in Sept. of '24 @wittaj asked you and I don't see a reply. It's a relevant question because with the scenario you're in the camera and your PC must be on the same network segment (subnet):

So, again.....
  • What is the IP address of the computer?
  • What is the IP address subnet your router is putting out?

im just trying to login to my router, i dont have access to it because that crap is controlled by rogers, but the tech that was here gave me the login when he was changing stuff around but i dont know where i put it '
im gonna have to call them to see if they will give me login info

No real need to log into router at this time. Instead, follow this:

On a PC that is connected to that router (wired or wireless), press Windows Key and R same time.
In the window that pops up, type "cmd" with no quotes, hit <enter>.
In the black command window, type "ipconfig" with no quotes and hit <enter>.
  • What is the "IPv4 IP address"?
  • What is the "default gateway" IP address?
I suggest you write the above procedure down or bookmark this post....it can serve you well.

If the camera's IP is 192.168.1.108 (the default for a Dahua and most Dahua-OEMs) and the PC is on 192.168.0.160 then then the cam and the PC are on different subnets and the PC's browser won't open the cam's embedded webGUI.

Yes correct camera is currently defaulted to 192.168.1.108
so if i change camera to 192.168.0.xxx i should be able to get BI to find it ?
