I'm trying to set up the Experience Database in my 5442 s3 cams (with the 12/24 firmware) to do the self learning to filter animals better. I installed an SD card to the cams, and following Andy's video, I can see the clips in the Record/ search video tab in the web setup. (time plan set properly) The Storage Tab has "local storage" selected, and the Storage settings show LocalDisk1 is full (as expected with "Overwrite" selected. So all good there.
But when I try the experience database, (AI, IVS, Global, experience database, "details", then Import Videos, and search on Cam1 and "all" events,, I have "No Data". There are NO clips there. So is it looking at another place or did I miss a selection? Clips seem to be recording on the SD card but none show in the Experience database search.
(in the experience database part where I see the database I added (called "1", ) it shows Free Space/Total space 200 mb/200 MB . 100% free, what is that looking at?

when I tried to use this feature, I did on NVR...

You create experience database in IVS/Global config..

But populating this database is from AI -> view events -> IVS level..
When you select any event and view the recording, in view window (on NVR over HDMI and web) is icon (last one) which allows add this video/event to experience database...

This open extra dialog, which allows select object (humans, vehicles) from event video which you want to add to database.
But this didn't worked for me (I'm Mac user, no Dahua plugins, this part used plugin).

ps. events for experience database MUST BE from IVS. other types don't work...

Thanks Steve,
I don't have an NVR (just blue Iris)... IVS is set up to send to BI thru OnVif. So My web setup doesn't show AI-View Events-IVS level... Ai just goes to rule config and global, which are both set up (i think.. below... they work with BI), I just don't seem to be populating the experience database. It shows as linked below:

in the camera record / search menu, check when you select IVS type (tripwire or intrusion) as filter does it SHOWS your events?

if not, something is not properly configured..
Steve: The events show in the Record: Search just fine. But nothing shows in the Ai/IVS/Global/ Experience Database/Details/import videos/search. Following Andy's video, that's where I need to select a clip to learn?... And I see no way in the main record/search part, where the clips do show, to add one to the database.

You probably need to save them to the SD card in the camera?
Yes, I think I am doing that! The clips show (as local storage) in the record: search.... I THINK they are on the sd card tho I see no sure way to confirm that, other than it says "local storage" and the sd card free space drops accordingly. They clips just dont show in the experience database part when I search there. I'm clearly missing a checkmark or something!

one more time:
does they show when you FILTER THEM as type to tripwire or intrusion?

hmmm.. might be getting closer: If I search in record: search video, they all show when using "all" or General". But if I select tripwire or intrusion (the two zones I have set up in IVS), I get nothing. So I guess my IVS is set to send to Onvif but not going to the sd card? (set for General, full time record). do I need to set recording to event instead? I was looking to have fulltime main stream recording on the card as backup...

yes, they must be stored locally as IVS events..
with IVS metadata..

not recording of everything...

Dahua historically does a poor job of 24/7 recording to SD card and will cause you a problem when it chokes trying to write and over-right at same time. Better to use it on trigger.

ok, will try that! No way to do both?

ah, ok then, that seems to be the source of my issues now. I'll reconfigure it and test. I was thinking a full res full time record on cards that recycled itself would be handy, in addition to the continuous sub plus alerts I use now on BI. Continuous main stream would kill my drive too quickly, and likely handcuff BI anyway. Thanks...

for recording 24/7 there is NVR / BI...
I use camera sd-cards as BACKUP and they record only events...

backup for situation that HDD in NVR will fail.. or someone will stole NVR (I usually mount them somewhere next to some TV)..
there is no need to backup recording where nothing happens..

normal NVR with with proper HDDs usually can hold 2 months of 24/7 recordings..

256GB sd card on camera can hold events from all year back..

this a few times helped when there was very old recording needed...

I normally record OnVif to BI. I was able to record "general" full time to the sd card, but I still can't figure out where to tell the Web Setup to record events to the sd card... they aren't showing up... .2025-07-03_13h52_15.png 2025-07-03_13h54_08.png 2025-07-03_13h55_58.png

I dont see any destination setting in the IVS portion...

It is on the page where you draw the IVS rules and it shows snapshot - select the event linkage and check the recording box

Damn, so it is! I missed that, and it wasn't needed with BI.. so... Many thanks, now working, I will begin trying to work the experience database now:) Much appreciated, you and Steve!
