Reolink cameras are garbage and their reddit moderators are unprofessional trunk slammers

Anyone recommend a professional camera brand made in the USA? Panasonic??? Bosch? I've tried both Reolink and Amcrest. Both are unusable. Their software is a disaster. The cameras routinely disconnect themselves for no apparent reason. I read that Walmart uses Bosch.

Reolink and Amcrest are not made in the USA....

You are in Europe according to the location tag, so what is your desire for USA made cameras?

Panasonic is made in China.

Bosch is made in several countries, including the USA and China (although they stopped selling those in the US in 2021).

You said they routinely disconnected - were they wifi cameras or going through your router?

Here are the ads in the app I am refering to. There is also an annoying orange dot on the menu bar which notifys me about the reolink captures which I also find annoying. Notification badges are supposed to notify users about important things, not stupid contests or whatever.

My main deal with Reolink is the fact that there reddit moderators are basically just clones of Fenderman. Only in the case of Reolink, I paid money indirectly to support the development of an app that is basically a marketing platform to send promo junk, but also I am being insulted by their Reddit representatives by being told "this is a you issue". And then I got banned for "threatening" to screenshot their conduct and report them to reolink! Funny how they deleted all of their posts pretty quick. Yet this is all my problem.

Please enlighten me as to WTF that means.....inquiring minds want to know. :idk:

Look at how the reolink mods talk. Then Google "ipcan talk" and look at the hilarious interactions with Big Mike. I will give him credit though. In most cases the person he is arguing with is usually a dumbass, but I think a little compassion goes a long way whether you are running a reddit forum or this forum

No thanks...I'd rather stick my finger in a pencil sharpener.

BTW, how do know that the reddit moderator in your screenshot is an offical representative for Reolink?

Because that is their "official" group, so by extension all of those mods are official voices of the company.

I'm curious. How is it that none of you are concerned (or talking about) the fact that most of these cameras are made in China. It's been proven over and over that these things connect to Chinese servers...
That's how the app on your phone connects to the cameras.
I don't want Chinese creeps spying on my home, but I guess you don't mind?
Or I can assume you're all Chinese?

We talk about it plenty here...

We isolate our cameras from the internet so they can't phone home, that is how...

False:
My Dahua cameras dont connect to anything, firewall logs prove so.

The only exception is if I’m using P2P for remote viewing, in which case they (my NVR actually) connect to an AWS server to get directions to my phone. Nothing streams through any remote server.

Those who aren’t actually watching the traffic flows have no idea.

Cool story though bruh

Pretty bold statement for someone who's been here less than a day. Spend some time reading next time BEFORE you decide to make a not-so-factual statement and you'll be surprised what you learn.

And no, if I were you I would not make any more assumptions.

You should see what your Chinese made TV talks to…. Even when it’s turned off

LOL.
WTF difference does it make to anything, how long I've been here?
It's a legit question, but you obviously had to pipe in and show everyone you have nothing to offer.
Congrats for being about as useful as a cock flavored lollipop.

No, it would be a legit question if there weren't literally hundreds of threads that answer your question.
Which begs another question........are you a dumbass or can you not read?

Hi @poesgesig

My cameras are not connecting to any cloud servers, I firewall and block / restrict access to my LAN and have isolated and IoT / Security Cameras on their own VLANs ..

I do what I can to limit info security exposure issues.

Not perfect, just better.
