I don't find the app much different than a year or two ago. A few tweaks but not wholesale revamp.
I'm mainly after push notification when a person is detected so I can easily tell if it is someone unknown, and easily playback that notification clip. Is that feasible? Last time I tried, it was a no go.I don't find the app much different than a year or two ago. A few tweaks but not wholesale revamp.

Consider trying the Amcrest View Pro app...works with Dahua, as Amcrest is OEM'd by Dahua.I only have 5 cameras installed connected to my Dahua NVR which has 8 ports. On the app, is there a way of only showing the 5 cameras as currently it scans for CAM 6,7,8 every time.

I ended up sending the NVR back as I could not get around the horrible UI, but that is me and I decided to move from BI to Scrypted for that reason. I need to build a system for a relative so that needs to be rock solid, even with a not as great UI. I can't tell you about the notifications on DMSS as I didn't even get there last time as it was too frustrating to deal with the UI in general. This is so basic I can't understand how people say it doesnt work?
Please show me how this is difficult?
How you setup the app and connect to the NVR/camera does matter however
