Surveillance HDD prices up since 2019?

Was looking at helping a friend get an Empire Tech NVR and I went looking online for HDD's. My 4TB WD Purples were on sale at Amazon for 80$ USD in 2019 and I see they're more expensive today. Hopefully Black Friday has some sales.

I somehow thought that 4 years later I'd be able to get 8-10TB drives for the same price a 4TB was then.... thanks.

Those days are long gone. Was there some sort of flood or something that resulted in short supply which in turn increased prices. I think at this stage the manufacturers caught on and the ever cheapening prices of hard disks stopped there and then
