I would like to replace my current NVR (Synology Surveillance Station) with Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P-2TB (from bhphotovideo.com) and would like to get your opinions.

I have 5 Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I cameras (four with V5.2.0 build 140721, one V5.2.5 build 141201) all are originally Chinese editions flashed to English (intl) firmware. Will this be a problem? NVR from B&H is US version (I assume since B&H is an authorized Hikvision dealer)

How do you guys like the software and reliability of DS-7608NI-E2/8P?

Thanks,
Lac

i just got a DS7716NI-I4/16P only thing i would warn you about is the loud fans, i am aware this is the case of all HikVision NVR's. software is way more useable than Synology's SS.

Loud fans is not a problem since this will be in the attic. My main concern is that the cameras were originally Chinese firmware.

Also, the spec for the NVR states 8 channels at 720p and 6 channels at 1080p. How about the 3M resolution? (The full resolution of DS-2CD2032-I)

sorry can't help you there, not sure how many channels you will get @ 3MP, you will have to wait for someone with this box to answer.

All Channels will record on the 7716 upto 6mp on all channels 24/7

Most my cams are hacked Chinese with firmware 5.2.5 and no issues with nvr

Full spec for that 7716 are here

What you are looking at is the live view and playback in fact this will record at upto 12mb but I doubt you will get that across all 16 channels, but at least as I stated before you will get 6mp per channel on recording, so 3mp is no issue.

Yep posts are jumping on this thread.
