So I totally will be buying from Andy.
But I came across this sale and was curious.

INDOOR WELL LIT OFFICE USE ONLY.
Varifocal would be perfect for the entry doors.
Will he a blue Iris 5 machine.

The reolink RLC-822A is $80 from 200.

Only reason that makes me consider is the varifocal.

Waste of money and just order the Andy's for $190?

Thanks

FYI - numerous threads on Reolink here .. do search for them. ( Search results for query: reolink )

In general, Reolink makes very good profits from those affordable cameras as they use very affordable components .. and they have been shown to cheat to make their cameras seem to perform better in low light conditions ( forcing image capture so that low light still images look great, but any moving images suffer greatly .. )

Most of us would recommend avoiding Reolink cameras if you need any sort of low light performance, as well as compatibility issues with Blue Iris ( iFrame issues .. search for the topic here ,, ) ..

And the sensor is only 1/2.8" for a 8MP camera....terrible night performance likely. That's OK for 2MP but a 8MP cam should be at least 1/1.2".

Yeah it's going in an office with full lighting 24/7 so the night performance is irrelevant and zoomed in all the way.

Sounds like you've already made a decision....
Yeah for sure. Lol just a lapse in judgement

Is there another indoor varifocal I should be looking at that is around 100?
Just looking for a start, with an upgrade in the 2023 fiscal year. I'll move these cams around to other low priority areas

Ya mean something like this: Link
Yeah I saw that but I was hoping it was cheaper. I'd much much rather have the varifocal for another $30.

Thanks though. Just trying to get the company I work for started and I can slowly get better cameras.

Really looking at the $80 4mp 2.8mm for now to cover entry doors and then in a few months I'll get varifocals to replace them and move the 2.8s

The varifocals will go to the doors and the 2.8 will be moved to the general wide coverage areas.

I just want the entry doors inside covered asap.

Here's an example of an entry door.

And then an example of the general open area.
