My wife and I are visiting my parents. We had a very lively, bordering on all on argument, discussion about Jan 6 (protest vs incursion) and other liberal beliefs.

My parents live in Oceanside. The San Diego Tribune is owned by the L.A. Times. The ”trash” on the L.A. rail yards was brought up and why isn’t anyone doing anything about it. I explained that the Federal rail road police are referring these criminals who are stealing from the railroad to D.A. Gascon who puts criminals above victims. There response? We haven’t heard about that. Mine? Look it up.

About San Franciscans leaving their car doors and trunks open so criminals won’t break their car windows to see if there is anything inside worth stealing. I explained about the mayor’s and D.A.’s criminal justice reform ideas. Their response? We haven‘t heard anything about that? Mine? Look it up.

About the L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy who was killed off duty and the Sheriff seeking out a U.S. Attorney rather than referring to Gascon? Yeah, you guessed it- we haven’t heard anything about that.

I doubt we changed any minds but after my mother made the statement that Fox News is fake news and my talking about the above, I finished with “Its important that you get your news from a variety of sources.”

Sadly, multiply your experience with their understanding, attitudes and belief system about the media, politics, 1A, 2A, the pandemic, education and so on by about 60 million and it's pretty clear how we arrived at where we're at right now.

My condolences to you...it's frustrating talking to a wall, isn't it? Honestly I think I'd get further and receive a more enlightened response by discussing some of those issues with one of our dogs. :headbang:

Many times I am accused of being an "ignorant Fox News reader" when, in reality, most of what I find is in many other news publications, just hidden. They only read the headlines, or more likely, what CNN puts up on their 30 minute "news" cast. Ignorance is bliss, or as a famous person once said, "tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth."

"Omission of the truth is tantamount to deliberate, outright lying."
