Hello all,
So I installed one of Andy’s VTO/VTH combos at my house a while back and downloaded DMSS. Everything works perfect. When someone rings the doorbell, It’s not a notification I get, it’s as if someone is calling my phone and I can answer it without having to go into the app first.

Yesterday I installed the same setup at my mothers house, and instead of a call, she just gets a notification on her phone. This Isn’t as ideal as the way my setup is. Just one ding from her phone is all she gets, I imagine she will miss a lot of doorbell rings. Can anyone point me in the right direction to have hers actually look like a phone call instead of just a notification? If you catch the notification banner before it disappears, it opens the app and in there it looks like a phone call. Thanks in advance!

Odd. What firmware versions of the VTO's are being used between your's & mother's house?
I assume you used P2P for setup. I setup things manually (the hard way) so am unfamiliar with P2P.
Maybe other's can jump in for the P2P setup/config side of things. If you have ever used Wireshark, this would give you answers. My bet is the VTO successfully sends the notification to iOS/Google push notification servers since your mother gets the notification. I know on my DMSS app, there were 2 things I had to do: subscribe to the VTO and then allow notifications.
Unsure if P2P sets all this up automatically or not.

Not sure what firmware, I’ll take a look this evening. On mine I manually added them, and I access the camera through a vpn.
On my mothers I used p2p. I had to subscribe and allow notifications as well on both my phone as well as my moms. It works fine, the notification comes through and you can answer through the app. But it’s just a lot more convenient the way mine calls my phone vs a notification.

Either way...even with P2P, I assume it calls regardless. Once you use P2P, you are relying on Dahua servers for the go between. I am unsure how you check the status of those Dahua P2P servers. PING, perhaps? Would your firewall parameters be blocking GeoIP locations from specific places across the world?
Here is some Wireshark and IP information that you might find valuable (sorry, no P2P info though):

I read through the link you provided and everything just went over my head lol. I’m not savvy in that area at all.
yea... it's rough to troubleshoot.
You do get the notification. So it's not a VTO ->Android or iOS push notification service issue.
It has to be something with the VTO -> Dahua P2P -> smartphone issue.
Maybe....redo the P2P setup?
