Firstly I didn't know whether to post this on another thread or start new so I did the latter. Camera is working well, no major issues, I am on almost full zoom and as cars come into the frame I notice distortion near the edge. It isn't the kind of distortion I would expect, seems to be both vertical and horizontal, not a show stopper by any extent but I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this.

It is quite common for lenses to distort when zoomed in, so it doesn't surprise me too much. I would say it only effects the outside (right in my case) 10-15% of the frame. I only noticed as you can see the cars/trucks look like they lean to the right, ever so slightly, just as they enter the frame  they then straighten and distortion is gone once they pass through the initial 10-15% on the edge. Should have more to do with my time I know, in fact I have :lmao::lmao:

Camera is working great though, day and night for LPR/ALPR, recommended, yes more powerful IR would be nice but it would require POE+ and higher price. I can now use my PTZ for other duties and not as an ALPR slave :thumb:

Show us a picture of the distortion. Let’s see what it looks like. I have the same camera zoomed in 95% and don’t have any distortion.

Well it would be my luck to get a bad sample, I am good like that  - I am being picky but you can just tell there is slight distortion by the body lines when a vehicle passes through. I am not going to lose any sleep over it and my eyes are pretty sensitive to this kind of thing. Can't really post images sadly due to privacy issues  which doesn't help at all I know :wtf:

Could it be encoding compression artifacts ? Can you try setting constant bitrate and bumping up bandwidth? Also H265 usually causes more artifacts vs H2641636228715663.png

Thanks for the reply, this is certainly distortion, to be honest I wouldn't expect anything less on a zoom lens. Even on expensive photographic lenses you can still potentially have various types, on a zoom it would be quite rare not to have any particularly at the far end. It isn't an issue but I just wondered if anyone else had picked up on it, possibly only noticeable in certain settings. I have vehicles entering from one corner and you can see them straighten out as they enter the middle of the frame :D
