You can always delete the phone app if you don't need it. I had to use it to get the doorbell to connect to my wifi and then set all the configuration settings with it. I never used it again after that since I don't enable any of the notification settings. I let BI handle all that stuff.

I ordered mine on Monday at around noon. Delivery was expected today or Monday. It came on Tuesday, but I'm fairly close to NYC. I've got to pick up a transformer and some 18/2, and probably a wired doorbell too, just to be able to config and test it.

So I was out and about and was near Lowes. Went there for a transformer, 18/2, a doorbell and some 3/16x1/4 pop rivets. The only thing I came home with was the rivets. I did find a 24 volt, 40VA transformer in my electrical supplies area at home. I think that should handle the DB1C with no problem so at least I got that part out of the way. I'll check Home Depot tomorrow and see what they have, if not Amazon here I come.

The DB!C has been sitting on my desk getting a burn in test since yesterday afternoon. I have to say the video is amazingly clear, albeit a fisheye view. I took the trim off the front door, one side only, and pulled in an 18/2 and a CAT6. I'll probably put the DB1C up a little later this evening, at least with a temporary setup for the mechanical doorbell and transformer. I've got some AC wiring to do and that will be where the transformer will be powered.

I used the app, initially, to configure it but needed the Hik config tool to set the video, IP and so on. The response from a button press has been almost instantaneous on the phone, at least when I've fooled here in the house, so maybe I'll leave the app on my phone. BI found it, but I had to manually enter the video paths to get both the main and sub streams going. According to my router, it's connected at 6G.

yes, the button press is leaps and bounds faster than my older RCA variant which would work only 15 percent of the time.

You guys may push me to switch out my Gen. One...or actually it is a Gen 2 and this is Gen 3 from Hik. Have to say the button press is about 75-80% or more working for us. But again, very few people press the button now a days. As you can see the fish-eyed view works great for us. The DB1C may be too wide...but with a better picture may be worth it since I am running DeepStack...the zoomed in Facial Recon. pics are very pixelated.

I did set it up with a temporary transformer/doorbell to try it out in its' real environment. Seems to work fine. Now I've got to go config BI for motion detection on it. I'd rather get push notifications from BI on motion.

My wife has an Apple phone and I have an Android. The app was easy to find at the Play Store and works fine. However, I can't seem to find to find the same app on the App Store. I'm am not a fan of Apple so any advice on getting the DB1C to work on her phone would be appreciated mightly.

I have the db1c up and running great!

Couple of things I found was to install the EZVIZ Studio software to do the other config stuff. Not sure on the Hik-confg software but the EZVIZ Studio software with a mod to the config file works really good and allows most, if not all config settings to be made.

Download the EZVIS Studio software (EZVIZ Support - Creating Easy Smart Homes) then make the following mods to allow it to show the advanced options...

Once installed, locate the root directory of the EZVIZ install under windows, then in the config folder edit the AppConfig.ini file to include or change the following:

Show=1

Save the Appconfig.ini in the config folder and restart EZVIZ Studio.

Select "All Devices" and there should be an "Advanced" tab that will expose all of the config settings for the DB1C

I've already got it configged the way I want it. I need an app that responds when there's a button push. I know it's P2P and what that can lead to in terms of security, but it would be nice for her to have, too.

To capture the button press, a relay is suggested then you can get push notifications from a home automation hub...

Managed to get it working. I hate Apple products, worked with DOS and Windows and only a few Apples. Never liked them, at all. At least I got through that PITA. Happy wife, happy life.

Thanks for the heads up on the DB1C being on sale. Ordered it last Wednesday and it was delivered in Sydney Australia on Sunday. All up including DHL delivery and GST (Aussie tax) and coverting to $AU was $106. An equivalent in Australia would be $200.

It is working really well. Powered it off a 12v dc battery for a few days/nights while testing and while pulling new wires thru the wall cavity. Now powered off a 12v DC power supply. Human detection is working spot on and only alerts me of those events. It does capture other events but these are listed as general recordings and I don't mind them taking up room on the SD card.

It captured today's two couriers. You can probably guess which one is my favourite regular courier.

Nighttime quality is good. I was getting a few insects flying around so I've turned off the IR and am relying on another video camera mounted higher to the left and also various garden sensor lights.


Sharing the cam with my wife is working ok after a few initial head scratches. It has to be a seperate Ezviz account. Easy. Then shared from the owner , but nothing happened on the wifes phone. Logged her out and back in and the invite was waiting . Now ok.

I'm interested in getting a chime unit but the specs say they come with either a US / EU / or UK clip on plug but no AU option. Has anyone bought a chime and is it supplied with all three optional plugs ? Is it a fairly standard looking clip arrangement? I've got plenty of power packs with clip on pins and am wondering if there is a standard arrangement. I could always use a travel plug adaptor but would prefer not to.

Foxes are an introduced pest to Australia. Some aristocratic English gentleman back in Colonial times decided he was bored and would introduce the sport of fox hunting to the new colony. Thanks a lot. They are now a big pest and are moving into suburban areas looking for small pets for food.
