Hello all, i am hoping there is someone that could help me load Dahua firmware on Lorex lnb9272s cameras? I Have been reading the forums like crazy but i am still unsure if it is even possible.
so i get the sys info from the camera as seen below.

http://192.168.1.60/cgi-bin/magicBox.cgi?action=getSystemInfo

appAutoStart=true
deviceType=LNB9272S
hardwareVersion=1.00
processor=DH7200
serialNumber=ND00000000019
updateSerial=IPC-HFW2831TN-ZA-3711-CAYENNE
updateSerialCloudUpgrade=IPC-HFW2831TN-ZA-3711-CAYENNE:01:02:02:64:2C:00:01:0F:01:01:00:320:00:00:00:00:00:01:00:00:200

(Firmware Version V2.622.00LR000.8.R) very old.

Then i believe i have the compatible firmware from Dahua DH_IPC-HX2(1)XXX-Sag-EngSpnFrn_NP_V2.800.00000000.2.R.190404

I have tried to flash using the cameras web interface with no luck, said file mismatch , i believe. So then i modified the chk.img file in the Dahua firmware to include the .img from the camera,IPC-HFW2831TN-ZA-3711-CAYENNE:01:02:02:64:2C:00:01:0F:01:01:00:320:00:00:00:00:00:01:00:00:200 and still no luck.

I am NOT worried about bricking this camera in an attempt to get the Dahua firmware on it!!! Lorex has no firmware updates for it and it does not really work with the modern browsers.
I'm also hoping that IVS functions might work if i could get it converted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !! maybe TFTP?

how did you try flashing? web UI probably won't work, need to use tftp, once you're sure to have the right firmware (which must have 2831-series in it's check file, but don't go trying to add it if not there - that's a recipe for a brick)

Ok I tried tftp but was not successful i do feel that I'm close, just missing something simple any ideas? Below is the Lorex camera ID.
IPC-HFW2831TN-ZA-3711-CAYENNE:01:02:02:64:2C:00:01:0F:01:01:00:320:00:00:00:00:00:01:00:00:200
this is the check image file on the new firmware the hardware id is so close but not exactly the same. I have also added the above hardware id into the check image file of the new firmware ,still no luck.

I wonder if 'Cayenne' is their code name for newer Lorex OEM builds. ?

My Lorex E891AB has HWID=IPC-HFW1841EN-PV-0280B-CAYENNE:01:02:02:72:2C:00:01:0F:01:01:00:3A5:00:00:00:00:00:01:00:02 :200

I have only found one Dahua firmware with 'cayenne' in the HWID, and that's for the 3841 series.
General_IPC-HX3XXX-Dalton_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000000.2.R.200521
from here: Dahua Technology - Leading Video Surveillance Solution Provider with CCTV Products, IP Camera, PTZ, HDCVI products, NVR, Intelligent Building, Intelligent Transportation and Software - Dahua Technology

They seem to doing a better job of obscuring which (if any) Dahua FW will work on recent Lorex's...

Thankyou so for trying!!! at least you found a firmware with cayenne in it, I must have downloaded at least 50 firmware's looking .it gives me a little hope! also just for shits and giggles i tried to load it :) but no success.
I cant believe that Lorex does not have a newer firmware for it. My next move is to attempt to learn linux and python.

see Lorex E891AB (aka IPC-HFW1841EN-PV) :)

this FW provides a stock Lorex recovery option for the E891AB (aka HFW1841EN-PV), LNB9232S (aka HFW1831EN.) and LNB9272S (aka HFW2831TN-ZA )

edit: Since posting this, some users have reported these FW don't allow full functionality on the LNB9232S or LNB9272S, limiting frame rate to 15fps (from orignal 30) and losing zoom/focus control. It's odd , as the 9272's HWID is matched exactly in the check.img file, but perhaps just a mistake from Dahua/Lorex...

Can you confirm that after recovery, your LNB9232s still supports 30FPS?

No it does NOT support 30fps, after the recovery. But if you have a bricked LNB9232s or a LNB9272 it will recover them to a working condition!!! also note that if you recover a 9272 you will NOT have zoom and auto focus also limited to 15 fps.
If any one out there could supply us with factory firmware it would be greatly appreciated or an alternative Dahua firmware to cross flash, i would be willing to make a donation!!!

Just to update an older post, the LNB9232 may show 25fps in the drop down, but when streaming with VLC it will show 29.97fps. It will only do this at 4k with H264. At 4k with H265 the max it will do is 25fps.
