Dahua Smart Motion Detection Setup

Do you need a NVR to make Dahua Smart Motion Detection work, humans only?
I'm using Blue Iris and Dahua IVS now.

@Wildcat_1 might have some insight on if any parts of SMD can be used outside of with Dahua NVRs. The feature that lets you quickly search through recordings seems like it would have to require a Dahua NVR, but I'm not sure if SMD can trigger recordings on VMS like Blue Iris.

None of my cameras have SMD, but my 5442s have SmartAI which adds filters for humans/vehicles that can be enabled in IVS rules. That's been working great for me on Blue Iris.

I'll try the IVS human detection, I didn't even know it was there.
You must be on older firmware or you have a different 5442 than me.
All of mine have Smart Motion Detection.
I have three IPC-HDW5442T-ZE - IPC-T5442TM-AS - IPC-B5442E-ZE.
