Hi all
I hope that's the right subsection.
I would to build my surveillance system, but i'd like to have some suggestions from you guys.
I already have 2x24 port switches , one 802.3af and the other 802.3at (Cisco and brocade), a pfSense router/firewall with a OpenVPN server. I was planning to buy an i7 3770 hp 8300 from ebay (BI5 server).
In this days i've played with ipvm calculator and i have some screenshots here.
I need 5 cameras or at maximum 6.
About brands, i like dahua and hik, but i wouldn't buy an old model, i would face detection and recogniction (if possible).
Also a brand mix should be fine.
i have attached the imageshack url (i've a lot of screenshots)
IP cam - Click to see more photos

What do you think about the project? What you would change?
Thanks.

Hi @xm4rcell0x

I've been seeing some good deals on i7 4770 / 4790 now, so I would go 4th gen+ if you can find a good deal.

Oh, thanks! I'll take a look

Hi @xm4rcell0x

Looks like a good plan, remember to do a test before running the cables to confirm.

Look for "test rig" here on ipcamtalk for an example of what many are going to setup a temp test rig in the USA.

Also remember to test with a subject wearing a cap and hoodie who is acting as a prowler would.

This will help you confirm locations and positions. Sometime just moving the spots a little makes a big difference - especially at night when lights may affect the exposure levels of the image from the cameras.
