Hi,
What brand and model of cameras are you using to protect your house?
Have you caught anyone or anything interesting on the cameras?

Two Dahua 3.6mm 1080p starlights have been up for a couple of months. I've seen a few suspicious events and saved the video just in case any one came looking for it. Other than that, just some cats, possums, mama ducks with babies, and a trash panda.

Mr_D,
You live in Socal? I work in Irvine.
What is the model of the 2 Dahua? I am looking to buy something.

Yeah I'm in OC. I have the IPC-HDW4231EM-AS turrets installed. I also have a IPC-HDW5231R-Z which has a zoom lens and is great for testing and deciding which focal length you need. The 4231's are cheaper so you can save some money if one of it's available focal lengths is acceptable. There is a user on here @EMPIRETECANDY who sells International firmware Dahua cams directly, shipped DHL from Hong Kong. Beware that there are a lot of Chinese market cameras on eBay or Amazon that you don't want.

Yeah, I've reached out to Andy planning to purchases a few cameras from him.
I want to get the following cameras.
IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and IPC-HFW4431R-Z, I think both cameras have the zoom feature. It is for the front of the house and the backyard.
Can you zoom in any part of the video or is it a fixed zoom?

The HFW is a bullet camera and usually not recommended for outdoor use due to more problems with bugs than the turrets.

The zoom is for adjusting the field of view during installation, then you leave it.

The zoom can't be re-adjust within the app or from NVR?

It should be. I don't use an NVR but Blue Iris can adjust it. But it's not something that's meant to be changed all the time. You'll want to look at PTZ cameras for that which also let you re-aim the camera. Just zooming isn't too useful unless the area of interest is always near the center of frame.

I have 4 cameras for the house entries, 8 covering the exterior of the house, 1 at the end of a 500’ driveway, 1 license plate reader, 3 covering a storage building/tractor shed, 1 covering an area we feed foxes, and 2 HQcam cameras mounted in birdhouses. You can see below the models.
