I'm running some various Dahuas i'm noticing that my 8232EP-Z one is recording much larger videos than the others.

IPC-HFW8232EP-Z
vs
IPC-HFW5231EP-Z5
IPC-HDW5231RP-Z

NVR (if you can call it that) is a Synology. Which is probably the problem but

All the cams are configured for 1080p, 25FPS, H.265 best quality in the drop down ..etc ..etc ..etc

anyways - my 60 days of 8232EP-Z is about 12x the size of even the 5231RP-Z (that has sound in the recordings as well).

is anyone else who is using the 8232 w/ H.265 (or H.264) notice that it's recordings are much larger than other dahua cameras ?

Recording size is dependent on birate...if you have set a variable bitrate and the scene is more complex then it will adjust the bitrate higher...

Sorry forgot to mention these are on my test setup - not installed in their intended locations. so there isn't much variance in the scene.

they are VBR but they are set the same to their Max Bitrate, as well as they are pointed at the same FOV (well they are lying next to each other at the same wall in the basement). so while I might expect 'some' variance - I wasn't expecting 13x.

I will test with a constant bitrate and see if they start to come out closer - just for testing, but I suspect something is 'special' about what is coming out of the 8232EP or the Synology is treating them different somehow.

So i've set them all to CBR, both at 5888 (cuz it's a test).

the gap in file size tightened up some - but the 8232EP is still noticeably larger.

What's the 3DNR set to on both of the cameras? I found my 5231 turrets to need less 3DNR than the 8232 bullet, especially if the gain is above 40ish, so if your cameras are set to the same, that could explain differences in video size. If anything, ensure that you're testing in a well lit area, i.e. outside in daylight and see if there's any difference there.
