Getting the hang of it

Today I started to set up my POE switch so I can download Blue Iris and start setting cameras up. Initially I was able to log in to the switch with the provided IP address, user name, and password. I changed the password then the IP address to avoid conflict with my router. I was able to relogin using the new IP address and password. Then I was in the time menu to sync the date and time. I was directed back to the log in screen after applying the current date and time. After that my password would not work so I performed a factory reset on the switch. Now I am no longer able to access the log in page via the factory IP. I know it is correct because I get the Zyxel logo next to the IP address in the tab at the top of Chrome but get this error:
This site can’t be reached
IP ADDRESS took too long to respond.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Network Diagnostics says "Windows could not detect this network's proxy settings".
No proxy settings are enabled anywhere. I've tried every solution I could turn up on Google (turned off firewalls, reset TCP/IP, disable automatically detect settings for LAN) and nothing will work. Any ideas?

The login page is likely a cached page....you need to save your settings on the top...simply hitting apply will not save them and after a reboot will revert back to default...that is what happened to you...

Thanks fenderman, I was aware after reading some tutorials and did hit save afterwards. Either way, after a reset the switch reverts to the factory IP address and I'm getting the same proxy error.

reset the switch and try a different browser to save your settings...also ensure you have the latest firmware.

That's the problem, I have reset the switch multiple times. 192.168.1.1 is the factory IP. I cannot access the login page from the factory IP or the IP that was set before. I can access my router with no issues, only the switch I can't get access to.

you need your pc directly connected to the switch AND set your pc to use ipv4 address 192.168.1.2....of course you cant connect to the switch if your router has the same ip address or its on a different subnet.

Tried connecting directly to PC and still no dice. Reconnected to router and it started working all of a sudden. Went through the process of changing IP and password and the same thing happened again. I made certain I saved the settings. Went to new IP to login and could access the login page but new password would not work. Tried original password and it would not work either. Closed tab and tried to access the page again and now same as before, cannot access the switch and errors are the same.

you are doing something wrong...what is the ip address of your router?

Got it working, finally. I think the issue was with the setup wizard. I connected it directly to the PC again, factory reset, turned it on and off, and I was able to get to a log in page. This time I applied all my settings manually from their respective menus instead of using the menus. So far all the settings have stuck and everything is working like it should.
