I have only 2 cameras connected. Is it possible to only output 2 cameras without displaying the other half of the screen black? I only have 2x2 output.

No - the only solution is you could set it to single/full screen 1x1 with only two channels programmed and set it to cycle every X seconds. So you could go full screen for 5 seconds and it would switch from camera to camera ever 5 seconds. I am not aware of an NVR that allows 1x2
