I just got this camera a couple of days ago. I logged on directly from my pc to the camera and changed from static ip to DHCP. Today when I got the camera mounted and connected, I was unable to get a connection. I can see it on my network, and has a ip address of 192.168.1.115. When troubleshooting the connection in Win 7, I get the message: "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection -detected".
How to solve this problem? Is there a reset on the camera (haven't seen one but I haven't been looking for one either)? I'd like to get this cam up and running before I go on vacation tomorrow...
 
take it down and plug it in to a bench test, sounds like it could be bad cabling..

Maybe so but the cable checked out ok with my network cable tester before install. I found the reset button on the cam and reset the camera, and it got its static ip again. So that means it was reset, but I still can't access it. Guess I'll have to try another cable and reconnect it to my laptop.
 
your 'network cable tester' is likely just a continuity tester.. meaning it makes sure they are connected and in order, but thats it.. that can look perfectly fine and yet it can still fail to negotiate a basic link..

real network cable testers actually push data over the wire and check for corruption/dropped packets.

I took it down and put it to a bench test but with the same result. It has nothing to do with bad cabling -that is for sure.
I accessed another Dahua cam with the same cables -no problemo.
I also tried a 10 sec reset but that didn't do it either. Then I did a 30 sec reset -still no access to cam. If I plug it into my network, I can still see it(name and ip address 192.168.1.108) but I can't access it. The ip address has changed so there must have been a reset though.
After I did the resets I could hear and see the camera restart (ir lights and vari focal lens adjusting).
What next??
I wrote the seller, but I'm not expecting much help from them -who knows....
 
try to power it with 12v supply or poe?
 
just basic troubleshooting, try to rule out all the common issues.. like faulty PoE board, inadequate PoE power, etc.. your running out of stuff to try.

do a port scan on it and see if it has anything at all running on it?

I think the problem is a faulty connection. After I first logged on to the camera and changed the ip to DHCP I twisted the cam about 10 degrees clockwise to align it so that I could point it in a more convenient vertical direction. That's what I think did it. As of now my router only picks it up if I twist it back about 10 degrees, otherwise it doesn't register on the network. In one position I can see it registered on my network (but still cannot access it), and in the position I want it in -nothing at all -but the camera is on though. There's nothing to do but try and get in touch with the seller and send it back for a refund or a new one I guess. :(

I check my router logs and this is what it said. My cam is 192.168.1.108. Know what it means?Dahua.jpg
