helps alot with weather too when your IR is not surrounding the lenses.. just offsetting the light source a little keeps most of the stuff up close from reflecting back in.. I could have a spider web running right infront of the camera and it wont be lit-up from the right angle to be visible.. Turrets and LXIR Bullets move it further away from the lens, but turning it off all together and using a light source from a few feet away makes a very dramatic difference, it can even keep reflectors from flaring up if your not working with great distances, you only need a few degrees offset to nuke lens flare.
I don't get spider webs or moths its below zero and snowing and with all this white on ground and the reflection I could light up my yard with a lighter
