I saw it once but now after going through it I don't find direct to disc. Should I use this. fenderman and other believe it is the way to go? Why is that other than CPU usage? Thanks.
AFAIK, direct-to-disc only can be done in the Blue Iris format. Anyhow, that's what I do. If I need to export something interesting that got recorded, it's super easy to export that to a different format.I found it but do most people use the BI format or mpeg-4 format?
you can record mp4 direct to disk, you just need the codec for mp4 as explained on the BI website..but mp4 is a poor choice since it does not allow file playback until the file is closed.Yep, you are correct. It looked like it was working with mpeg4 but only black screen. I have since returned it to blue iris. Thanks.
Set up each camera with "camera properties", "Record" "Video File format and compression" then under "Video compression" select "Direct-to-disc". Once I selected Direct to disc then the 48 camera Hikvision setup dropped from over 100 % CPU usage to 32% with spikes up to 52 % when all 48 cameras are active (I set the cameras at 12 to 15 fps. Can't be more pleased with the stability of the system.I saw it once but now after going through it I don't find direct to disc. Should I use this. fenderman and other believe it is the way to go?
