My home in Florida is directly in the path of Ian. I'd like to see my NVR and cams from up north. I have remote access set up on my phone but I'd like to view on a computer. Is the DMSS for Windows that I've seen a good option?

What is everyone using to remotely monitor from a PC

On a NVR it is a little different since you don't have the PC to run software.
I have access through Open VPN through my router that allows me to look at my NVR,
or connect to any other device on the network.
You can also use TeamViewer, TightVNC, NGROK.io or AnyDesk, but need a PC to run them on.
I would not open a port on my router to allow access to my NVR, that opens you up for a lot of attacks, etc.

I don't use an NVR like that but you're on the right track looking for a native PC app like that. In a pinch you could probably install an android virtual machine like bluestacks and run the mobile app on a PC that way.
If you have P2P remote access for your mobile DMSS application. Then you could use Dahua Smart PSS Plus lite version
