So I bought my first turret camera 5831R... and I made my soffit (wood) hole too large. I did not realize nor thought that the turret base would have gaps in the base... my fault for missing it.

That said... What should I use to keep bugs out of the larger hole I made that the camera wire goes up into. I have a couple of ideas but want to know what others have done.

Thanks.

I think we need a pic as I'm not too sure I understand? Even with a 3/4" hole behind the cam, the base of the cam should cover it?

I see what you mean, I would push as much of the cable as you can back and then just silicone or caulk around the hole to seal it before seating the camera back into it's frame.

You could drill this first with 3/8" bit to fit the CAT cable thru then press this plastic 1" hole plug up in there with some silicone sealant. They also make larger & smaller sizes. Color won't matter under your box. Hard to fill up a large hole with sealant.

OR (my fav)

Plug the hole with duct seal, 1 lb brick only $3.

I don't think there is to much to worry about. Your attic is vented and from the view of the soffit, it looks like rain will never go up hill through the camera and into the hole. Are you worried about ants?
