I've been struggling with an issue where BI becomes extremely slow, when playing back clips, reviewing clips or simply just scrolling through clips...
Just by viewing clips on mobile device or web will send CPU up to 99% usage, and the playback would stutter and is very sluggish
I have 14 cams, at total of 530MP/s
BI 5 runs on a HP G3 800 Elitedesk, i7-7700, 8GB RAM, SSD main drive, Win10... more than capable for this
I posted another thread a while ago - V5 - High CPU when scrolling alerts / playing back
I had every possible issue ruled out and couldn't find an answer.
yesterday I found some extra RAM laying around from another desktop, i added 4GB to my BI machine. now there's 12GB of RAM
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Not only the playback is completely back to normal, the CPU usage also dropped slightly.
It was around 40%-45% at idle, now it's 30%-35%.
I have a local monitor connected and the console is displayed at all times.
When i first switched to BI, i remember reading somewhere that 8GB RAM is more than sufficient, apparently it's not true.
BI already consume 3GB of RAM for my setup, and if you add system overhead, GPU shared RAM...etc. 8GB is not enough.
Hope this helps
