I’ve probably spent a good 40 hours testing different solutions and this one solution works the best. It really comes down to the firmware, using a vpn, and using the local IP address. It’s that simple.
So I’ve noticed that the newest (rebranded Hikvision NVR) firmware will not display a live feed, main or sub, on an Apple computer. But, it used to work before! So, I searched all the rebranded firmwares and rolling the firmware back a couple releases seems to have solved the issue for me. For one of my clients, his browser live view works locally but not when remote into NVR. A simple VPN with local permissions resolves that issue.
I’ll be happy to help any mac users with their live view and playback issues while viewing on a web browser.
p.s. yes I can use ivms but it eats up virtually all my ram
