Snow exposure settings

I have all my cameras set to custom exposure as per day/night and all is well until the snow arrives. It's mostly not a huge problem on sunny days but cloudy days because of all the snow makes the exposure for dark areas pretty dark- very contrast. Cars are ok but people lose a lot of detail. I'm thinking that WDR could help but I don't have that on for typical reasons. Anyone have suggestions?

Yeah, in most scenes I HATE WDR and what it does to the image, though some places its really necessary. Are you using a custom range?

Yes I have custom range but I'd have to look at what I set it at. Been a long while since I did that.

As it turns out all the cameras were on auto for daytime, hense the dark image with snow all over. What's working right now is custom shutter range 0.1 (10000)- 33.33 (30). Actually it's working very well. Snow, that huge white mass of brightness sure can make more trouble than just shoveling lol.

We got 4-6 inches on the way....for Mpls. followed by 6 months of Darkness . Will have to camp out late at work one of these nights and setup "snow Vision" settings for night.
