I am working on a system that will be installed right at the ocean shore at a fairly rough place, so I figure that the camera windows will be covered by salt after some time. My colleagues have mentioned the possibility of using "self-cleaning" window glass, which is manufactured by Pilkington for locations that are difficult to access. Has anybody in the forum any experience to share on this issue?

There are PTZ IP cameras with wipers built-in...

Self cleaning glass is "ok" until the first time it gets touched. Then it's all over. Wash/wipe is old school and well tested. When we did a museum in Qatar that they turned into an island, we just put a regime in place where a guy goes around in a boat with a fire hose and hoses the cameras every couple of weeks. Salt is a real issue with proximity to water.
