Second hand Hikvision DVR, password locked. Security code needed

Hello everyone!

I about a week ago I bought a second hand dvr (Hikvision DS-7216HWI-E2/A) however the previous owner won't reply to me anymore.
There is no reset button and thus I have to use SADP to retrieve the security code with which I can reset the password.
Seems rather simple, except that the support in Europe is terrible, for my country and neighbouring countries there is only an email addres from which they haven't replied to me yet, I sent an email ~5 days ago.

I found a generator tool online but the code that I get from there won't work. Is there anyone that can help me out??
Currently the DVR feels like an expensive paperweight.

Beacuse it's a DVR and fairy dated, I'm not sure if the IPCT Password Reset Tool here will work but you have nothing to lose. It's supposed to be for Hikvision cameras and NVRs.

I tried it with the full serial, the short one and some other combinations but nothing works unfortunately.

I fixed it!
I tried upgrading the firmware through TFTP and that made that I can set a new password!
