I've got a 5 ip camera outdoor surveillance setup which includes a Dahua SD52C225U-HNI Auto-Tracking Mini PTZ. Up til now it has been running to my expectations since I installed it back in 2018 on my 24/7 Windows 10 PC running Blue Iris NVR software solely. I never installed an SD card inside the camera, but our neighborhood is experiencing increasing car break-ins and catalytic converter thefts that I'm wondering if having an SD card in my PTZ would provide for a clearer picture/video than what I get in Blue Iris.

Any thoughts & advice would be greatly appreciated!

Some will say the SD card image is better, but if it were that much better everyone would just use those.

I don't see a difference. YMMV

The main reason for the SD card is for redundancy - if BI is updating, doing maintenance, conks out, etc. the SD card is still recording. Also if someone steals the BI computer, you would have the video in the SD card.

Here are two captures from today. One is from the SD card, the other is from BI. Cam you tell the difference?

SD Card: from cd card.png

BI: from BI.jpg
