I have ran Blue Iris for several years on a prebuilt Dell with an i7-4790. I have eight cameras which are a mixture of 2K and 4K that record 24/7 (Dahua and Amcrest) to a Purple HDD. I was tired of my CPU running consistently at 60% - 70%, so I wanted to build a more powerful machine. I ended up with an extra Ryzen 3700x, but was worried after reading multiple posts in these forums about how AMD may be the wrong choice because you lose Intel's quicksync capabilities. I can tell you that losing quicksync 100% does not matter - the 3700x laughs at my eight cameras and the CPU usage never exceeds 20%. I have the liquid cooled 3700x running with an old GTX 745 GPU, 16GB ram and a Prime x570-P mobo. I wanted to make this post for no other reason than to let people know there is no need to worry about making the leap to AMD with regard to running BI.

You obviously had not optimized your BI system...

With the substream option your 4th generation would have been sub 10% CPU usage.

A member here is running 50 cameras on a 4790 at sub 30% CPU...

Many run a 4th generation with more cameras than you had at 10% CPU...
