I've never tried it since I run it in a Linux VM. CPU usage for me is very light. The Scout VM averages 30% daytime usage and 15% nighttime usage over 4 cores assigned to it.
I do not believe they have done anything to improve performance with GPU.
I have not seen any updates suggesting it and the last time I tried, the CPU was higher offloading it to the GPU than simply using the GPU.
I experienced an issue I guess with a power blip or something that reverted one of my cameras to a D1 resolution and shockingly OpenALPR could still read them all, so I downrezed for OpenALPR purposes and took a load off the CPU in the process.
You have tight enough FOV and great Texas Plates that I think you would have great results as well.
