Refurbished HP 8300 Elite I7 3.40 GHZ

Not bad. But the drive's too small and the drive rotational speed is not specified. In addition, a 98.6% positive feedback is a poor rating IMO.

They are overpriced...these are ivy bridge systems...spend a few extra bux and get something newer if you are going to be using it as a vms.

Unfortunately this isn't a good deal at all. You can get this same model with the same specs for $199. I actually got a brand new 8300 just like this but with a 500gb 7200rpm drive for $159 almost a year ago from a company that had a few unopened extras from their last rollout. I added another 8gb ram for $22, a 5tb WD Blue for $100 on black friday and a new 500gb samsung evo 850 for $109 when it was on slickdeals around xmas because the deal was too good to pass up. The thing is a beast now but it gets a little warm so I got better fans to keep it cool.

Sorry for knocking the deal, but I just want to give a heads up to anyone looking at getting their first camera pc. I know every dollar counts when pricing these things, and for $299 you can get the newer model 800 g1 with the I7, 8gb ram and 1 tb 7200rpm drive if you're patient. The 800 g1 has 2 usb3 ports on the front too, which I wish my 8300 had.

Where can you get hp 800 g1 i7 8GB with windows for $299?

there are other 8300's on Amazon too

I've see OptiPlex's running i5's from 250-325 the last two weeks or so that I've been watching on eBay. I haven't been looking for HP's but wish I had if this is true.

No need to be sorry for knocking the deal. Looking forward to read your reply to Dalepa's question.

1st choice for me is ebay, but I've gotten some amazing deals on Craigslist too. I just took a quick look and it looks like the current price trends are a little higher than they were 6 months ago. There might not be an endless supply of them for $299 but you can definitely find them if you're diligent and patient.

$299 + Free shipping - HP EliteDesk 800 G1 - Core i7 2.2GHz - 8GB RAM - 128GB SSD - Win 8 Pro
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-Core-i7-2-2GHz-8GB-RAM-128GB-SSD-F3T98AV-/231998970918
- I realize the minis have pros and cons depending on your goals, but I personally like them. I kind of wish I would've jumped on this one myself.

$276 + $23 shipping - HP EliteDesk 800 G1 - Core i7-4770 3.40GHz - 8GB - 500GB - Win 7 Pro
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-EliteDes...GHz-Ram-8GB-HDD-500GB-Win-7-Pro-/152072783700
- SFF If you don't want a mini.

$325 + Free Shipping - HP EliteDesk 800 G1 - Intel Core i7 3.40GHz - 8GB - 1TB HD - Wi-Fi - Win 10 Pro
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hp-EliteDes...el-Core-i7-8GB-Mem-1TB-HD-Wi-Fi-/301946329092
- Obviously more than $299 but if you do get one for $299 without free shipping, it would cost about $26 to ship the thing.

Seems a little high, which models are you looking at?

I meant to reply sooner but kept getting sidetracked.

4690 and up.

And i don't think that 2.2 gHz i7 has QuickSync. Its not showing it does on the Intel site when i searched it. Best to go more recent.

I'm not sure how you did your search but the Intel site says it does have quicksync. It has the same Intel 4600 graphics as the i7-4770 in auction 2 and 3 that I linked to.

So you're looking for an i5-4690 and up, but when I post links to an i7-4770 and i7-4785T you say it's best to go more recent........

The i7 in the mini is not a true i7. Intel calls it an i7, but its as powerful as a standard i5-4590

The search must have had a variable in the filters I didn't see... When I checked it brought up a bunch of 2011 models, not sure what happened, my apologies

Okay?? I also linked to 2 4770s after acknowledging that the minis have pros and cons.

No worries at all. I want to be helpful anywhere I can since this this place has provided me with a ton of helpful info. I was just trying to figure out if the concerns were legit or if people were going to try to find any little detail to invalidate my $299 i7 800g1 claim.

Relax. I am just pointing it out for users who may see it. Mini's should generally not be used are primary recording pc's. The recording drive should be internal and most folks need larger drives for storage. Another important fact is that the 4770 pc's are about 3 years old now and most have no warranty left.
