Hello,

Here is my current setup as a business user.

  • 35 Reolink 5MP cameras on ethernet network
  • Direct to disk recording
  • Two profiles : (1) Off Hours (each camera set to record when triggered on motion sensor using default configuration) (2) Work Hours (each camera set to record continuous to triggers)
  • Dedicated server with 54TB RAID-5 array set to use 50,000GB, set to Delete, not limiting clips by age
  • CPU 8%, disk active time 1-3%, memory 9%
During Off Hours, BI only creates one file per camera for any camera that sensed motion. We have one viewing the parking lot. I can see people walking by in the clips. So that's as expected.

BI does record during the Work Hours. It seems to creates two files for each camera while recording is taking place.

Is one for substream and one for main stream?
Is the most recent substream one deleted when the next set of files starts recording?

It's unclear what your issue is: do you WANT to record main stream only and it is NOT or it's recording main stream only and you do NOT want to? :idk:

What version are you on?

I ask because there have been revisions to how main and substrreams are handled down through the versions, especially when Direct-to-Disk is in play. Much of these differences are covered in BI's built-in "Help."

Edited my question just now. I'm running BI 5.0 Release 5.9.9.19

I get the need to record only the mainstream—storage and clarity matter a lot. As a student, I face a similar challenge managing what sources to include in my work. When organizing complex info, I rely on Buy Research Paper | Professional Research Writing Service to help streamline content and focus only on what’s most important, just like avoiding substreams.
Replying for the update.
