Hi,

I have this NVR DHI-NVR5208-8P-4KS2 and I am looking to add a PTZ camera w/ auto tracking. What would be a suitable camera in price range 300.00 - 500.00 USD?

Thanks,
AC

The best model you can find is the SD5A425GA-HNR, the sensor to pixel ratio is the most suitable for good night vision. What I don't know is the price, but you can always ask Andy. ;)

Agree that for budget PTZs the SD5A425GA-HNR referred to above is the best value. It uses the 1/1.8” sensor on 4MP like the reigning gold standard 5442 series do. I believe it’s around $750

At around $400 is the new compact SD4A425DB-HNY which is also 4 MP but on a smaller 1/2.8 sensor. It’s still a very good little PTZ but due to the smaller sensor it’s not quite as good at night.

Was thinking of mounting a PTZ roof level on my 2nd story. In addition to my other 8 cameras at normal heights. Is this too high?

The video of mine that you commented on was on my second story.

I have since moved it to the first floor, for reasons, and it is doing well there, too.

But this is not a MINI PTZ.

It all depends on what you expect to observe with it. What is the role it is supposed to play?

If you mount it on the second story, say 20 feet off the ground, but expect it to give face ID to people at ground level 5-10 feet from the house, then no, it is too high. You will get a good look at the top of their heads.Angle of attack.jpg

Yes. PoE+ actually which is the output of most of the better Dahau NVRs. I’m running the new mini PTZ directly via PoE on a 5000 series NVR

Both show a max draw of 21watts and the 5000 series shows 25.5 watts per PoE port max

So my NVR is not PoE+. Correct?
