Reclaiming my gaming pc

Looking to move BI off of my gaming pc and out of my room. I don't want to give up the native interface so I would like to avoid the web interface if possible. What's the best way to access that remote screen with as little lag as possible? Would something like RealVNC still be the best way?

Our BI machine is headless and in a closet. We use tightvnc to remote in. That said, we have become very on a laptop next to our recliners in the living room.
