Rack mounting Hikvision 9632

Finally organizing my network closet and getting a rack. I have the 9632 Hikvision NVR loaded with 8 HD's so it is heavy.I have the rack mounts that came with the unit.

Anybody have any experience rack mounting one of these? Seems like a lot of weight to support from the front rack mount.

Why not get a rack shelf and just place it on that.

Probably OK. I've rack-mounted some big heavy servers. But I've not seen what Hikvision does for it's mounts. You could get a rack-mounted shelf if you're concerned about it and likely use both to take up the space side-to-side.

you should had no problem, the nvr is less than 30lbs with the extra hdd’s. Your rack should be above 20” depth. In case of installing an open frame wall mounting rack, an adjustable unit should work

Thanks for the replies. I did order an extra rack shelf just in case.

Follow up: so it rack mounted fine. The weight of the hard drives is mostly up front. I used a ratcheting strap to hold it in position to secure the cage screws. Before and after below. Cameras on top POE switch and data network on switch below, along with a PC running a linux firewall, mac mini file server, and a couple of Sonos amps.

Maybe I'll get around to tidying up the cables but probably not Just happy everything works.
