Taking my mind off things since I have a cold, so just took a few minutes to document a fan update...Noise went from 67-68 dB to about 54 dB... I did not check CFM so I am not sure if it was impacted or improved, But I did take the temperature and it went down a little under load about 4 degrees Fahrenheit ...

Very nice documentation. Thanks.

Thanks, just thought it would be better than moping at home sick, plus maybe it could help someone

imho it would make a nice youtube tutorial.

You can use the stills and do a voice over as the slides change.

Why it is 54dB, since one fan is only 17.9dB?

Noctua fans.

Since Amazon jacked up the price to retail on the 24 port V7 Managed POE+ switch, I have been thinking of getting the V7 16-Port Unmanaged POE+ switch instead, Right now, it's only $111.00 and I don't really need to manage anything. If it's really that loud, I may need to do what you did with the fan. Thanks for this posting and documentation. Very helpful.

Not sure , that’s the reading from one fan, in the v7...the other was turned off(unplugged)..
Perhaps the air holes are noisier ?

Your welcome..figured at least I would try contribute positively...

BTW I PURCHASED IT FOR 103 15 DAYS AGO FROM AMAZON..for 103. Wow..amazon is wonky sometimes.

If it would be mine, I would cut out the factory "grill" and add one of those shiny wire grills.
I would even add a dust filter, at the intake.

ohhh, chrome...Now where talking...lol
might consider it, just to see how quiet it could get...

You did a great job documenting this task. I have not seen any of those analog VOM or Radio Snack sound meter for a long while. Kudos!

I agree , love the Simpson VOM’s. // still accurate for what I use them for..
