I cant seem to get auto tracking to work like I'm wanting. I have this camera mounted on a corner so it can see 270 degrees. I have home set as preset 1 and it will track anything that goes in that zone. I have the front of my yard as preset 2 and it will go to preset 2 with a spotter cam but wont track, it just stays at preset 2 for a bit then goes back to preset 1. Im sure i probably have a setting wrong somewhere but i don't know where. Do i need to redo my ivs on my spotter cams or on the ptz Right now the PTZ has IVS running on 3 of the presets. It also has a preset,4 ,5and 6 but they are all within that 270 zone and don't have an IVS plan. Could that be messing with it? I have the object size at 10 do i need to go bigger? Im on a older 5216 NVR with 4.0 software Thanks for any help

When the PTZ is called to a preset, it takes a few seconds for the PTZ to settle, pull up the IVS, etc., so it is best to have the spotter cam trigger a second or two before the object enters the preset field of view of the PTZ.

Most of us let the camera AI do the work, so we leave min/max size as 0,0

All of the camera settings should be done within the camera GUI, not the NVR.

Depending on distance, I usually run between 30-40 on target tracking size

You’re sure the IVS rules on the PTZ on preset 2 are active and working?

It should be. Since making this post i have my spotter cam in the front setup with 2 different trip wire zones. If your close to the front door it will activate preset 2 on the ptz. If your more towards the end of the driveway it will trip preset 4.
I think I might have to go through the spotter cams and make smaller, more precise tripwires so the camera has a better sense of where its going. Like my spotter cams are 2.8 so I get wide views and the ptz is like half of that zoomed all the way out. So it seems to get confused on where to go, especially if someone walks almost under it. (Like most people who walk in my yard do)
I currently use a mix of tripwire and intrusion. Is one better over the other for the ptz?

No, I'm talking about the PTZ. I dont care how it gets to Preset #2 or who tells it to go there, I'm talking about the actual IVS lines on the PTZ itself when its sitting at Preset #2

Force it to go to Preset #2, show us the IVS lines and walk through them. Do they trip?

Several issues.

You need to get the tracking going properly and reliably for each preset before worrying about spotter cams.

Do you purposely have a short track time or was it constantly losing track of you?

Are you on default/auto settings?

Track time is set to 300 but it a return to preset 1 after 1 minute. Other than the presets, Its pretty much how it came out of the box. SMD off, tripwire/intrusion on. I'll take the spotters off and see how it does.

Can you sketch a quick pencil diagram of where the PTZ is and where the spotters are looking at the from of the house?

The PTZ starts tracking but the target then hits an IVS rule from one of the spotters which stops it and sends it back to the preset.

Spotter cam commands override tracking.

I have an area that took me days even weeks to sort out because of this.

Yep, Here's an example

PTZ Preset #1 is zoomed slightly looking down the street. Its actually mounted on a pole thats 100ft behind where Preset #1 view begins
preset1.jpg

Preset #2 is actually "behind" the view of the PTZ while at Preset #1, so a spotter has to tell it that there's something "behind" it to move to cover the culdesac
preset2.jpg

On the pole at the back of the culdesac is the spotter as well as the PTZ and an LPR cam

The Spotter provides overview coverage of the culdesac
spotter.jpg

But the spotter also has to tell the PTZ to pull back and look for targets "behind" it

The one IVS line marked with red arrows has to be placed perfectly between IVS rules of the PTZ at its Preset #1 and the Overview IVS rules of the spotter cam covering the culdesac. It needs to be far from any expected travel of the target once its initially tripped.
This rule tells the PTZ to pull back for Humans only appearing in the culdeac
This rule can't overlap with the regular IVS rules in the culdesac, otherwise every time someone crosses one the PTZ will pull back to Preset #2 and lose track and have to start over.

I think this is what you're seeing. Thats why I say it helps to draw it out on paper.
You want the IVS rule for the spotters to activate at a point that doesnt overlap with the tracking of the target.
Spotter command Always overrides tracking no matter what its doing
It can take a few bourbons to get this right

Well between having Grandkids all day and not being able to do much else, I did get the tracking working. I ended up just using one cam for a driveway spotter cam and left the PTZ to do the IVS on most of the presets. So now it will track me walking all the way from the car on the side to the truck in the front. I can also get people who walk the sidewalk on the other side of the street. It has an Idle return of 1 minute but will actually return to preset 1 within seconds of not detecting movement so ill have to work on that part. I don't have it tracking cars because it would never stop moving then lol. I probably have 7-10,000 on any given day between the two streets. If i do try cars it would be at night after about 12-1am. So far i like it, I really wish they would make it with the 1/1.8". This is a way easier to sell to the wife than a PTZ that hangs down a foot.

Thats the way.
Let the PTZ cover its primary home, Preset #1 and the spotter only calls it when something is in Preset#2 area out of its Home View.
That and keep the Spotter IVS line that activates the PTZ out of the path of possible crossing targets
