Hi guys,
I had a question that got buried down in another thread so wanted to post separately here.
Looking for a POE switch for 6 Dahua 2mp starlights with some room to add 1/2 later.
1. One switch mentioned in this forum is the BV-TECH that has 8 POE ports PLUS an uplink (nice to have 8 ports for cameras). The only issue I wonder is the uplink is also 10/100.
Amazon.com: BV-TECH 8 Port 120W 10/100Mbps Power over Ethernet Switch - Designed for IP Camera Use(Gray): Computers & Accessories
2. The gigabit BV tech switch loses one port for uplink (really 7 + 1) otherwise it would be no brainer.
Amazon.com: BV-Tech 8 Port Gigabit PoE+ Unmanaged Switch – 130W – 802.3at – POE-SW800G: Computers & Accessories
@nayr had mentioned something like 40mb/sec for 4 such cameras somewhere else. In that case it should be OK i guess to run 7 or 8 IP cameras on a 10/100 uplink correct? Or is it better to go with a gigabit switch? I really dont think in the near future il go over 8 cams.
3. Also, came across this one on amazon's warehouse: Has 8 dedicated POE gigabit ports and separate uplinks, also gigabit
Amazon.com: NETGEAR ProSAFE GS110TP 8-Port PoE Gigabit Smart Managed Switch with 2 Gigabit SFP Ports 53w (GS110TP-200NAS): Amazon Warehouse Deals
I dont think i need a managed one for home, but just wondered based on specs and 8 full ports.
thanks again
