Scenario.

Family member's home is a few miles away and I would, ideally, like to install some cameras at that home and monitor/record from my BI at my home. Maybe have them able to remote monitor only their location as well from their phones.

Is there any way to do this that is secure (I do not use any open ports)?

use OpenVPN to connect the two routers with a permanent peer to peer connection. I think you can do this with asus or edge routers.

Are the two houses in unobstructed line of site of each other ?

They are not, they’re a few miles away.

That's not the question. Is there a clear line of sight for radio? Wireless link will work over more than "several miles" easily.

I’m sorry, I misunderstood,I’m used to living in the city where there’s never an unobstructed view for more than a hundred feet.
No, the view is majorly obstructed and not within line of sight.
