Hello.

I've got a customer where the NVR's keep playing up, no matter how many times we replaced them.

First 2 NVR's were Hikvision ones, about 2 weeks into operation they would start beeping for no reason and then
give a blank display, they need to be reset to make them work again.

The 3rd NVR is an OEM Hikvision one I put on there, and the issue it gives is no beeping, but about 2 weeks into operation the screen just went blank.

I have one of the first NVR's I tried there back home, and it is not giving any issues here running it for a long time.

I am wondering could it be one of the cameras on the network causing the NVR to crash?
Could it be a faulty HDMI cable or could it be some sort of power spike issue?
How could I begin tracking down the problem next time it happens?

Thanks.

Do you have it on a UPS? What kind of facility is this? any welders or high powered equipment running at it? Anything running on the same circuit as the NVR that shouldn't be?

HDMI cables are known for blanking displays because of HDCP handshake failures, there is no HDCP handshake for NVR's.. none of the video is copy protected.. so I doubt this is the issue, but you should surely replace all the cabling you can and possibly the display.. so far if you've replaced all these NVR's and its the same display and wires then you need to re-think your troubleshooting and verify those are good.

Are you using onboard PoE?

Some environments emit so much RF or EM noise that it just causes electronics to freak the hell out, if this is one of them you need to put everything in a rack thats well grounded and with good power conditioning, isolation and RF chokes on the ethernet cables.. possibly external PoE so the NVR does not deal with the power.
