Getting comfortable

Yesterday, I swapped out the Lorex crap camera on our south side with a used Dahua 5231 2mp turret. I repositioned the FOV to the right as the bush my wife planted 3 years ago was now blocking the view. I also zoomed it all the way in to attempt to allow recognition of the person or vehicle as it passed. My neighbor across the street must have been watching the swap, because shortly after I finished up the install, he came out to the middle of the street to try and get a better look at it. He walked to the middle of the street and then walked back to his place mumbling something. I shrugged it off and didn't give it a thought.

So today, he's quite animated talking to his buddy next door and pointing over at my place. I can only imagine he's complaining that the camera I replaced now has a more direct view of his house. I'm not interested in him, just the cult de sac in between our houses as it is a good pinch area. I guess it got the better of him and he's now obsessed with it.

I don't understand what his malfunction is, he has cameras that point in our general area, so why is he so upset? I couldn't care less how he points his cameras because it's all public property that's being viewed. He or anyone else has no right to privacy if aimed at a public area

In the first still he's looking over at the camera. Two seconds before, he was just looking at his camera mounted right above the carriage light to the left of his garage door.

He then got in his truck with the loud exhaust and sat there revving the engine for about 20 seconds before coming down his driveway and speeding off to the left. He went around the block and parked in the grassy area on the cult de sac in the second shot. He opened the door, stared back at the camera then went into his house slamming the door.

This guy has a temper and a history to match it. He was feuding with the former neighbor that used to live in the house to the left of his. They both had cameras pointing at each other's property for some time before the neighbor sold the house and moved. I'm not going anywhere. He better get used to the fact that he can't do anything about the alignment of the camera since it covers what anyone can see from the road.

First thing Monday, June 2, 2025, you need to contact Code Enforcement and get the guy in trouble for parking in the front yard. I am an expert in reporting code violations for people that irritate me . . . it gives me something to use up some of my retirement time and lots of people irritate me.

Second, totally ignore the person . . . don't respond to him at all! It will make him furious.

Third, anything that gets in the way gets removed. Remove your wife's plant and don't tell her you did it. She may not even notice it is gone.

He'll have to get a topper to shield your view of the Bodies coming outta the truck into the backyard now. Thats why he's pissed.
I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's Cabin...

You could point it down a little to re-assure if anyoine comes around from law enforcement you're not deliberately looking at his property. Looking at your screenshots, lowering it to exclude the roof of his house would cover more of the ground in front of yours whilsts till giving you a view of most of his house in case he should do anything stupid like take a shot from his windows with a gun (given his alleged history). I'd lower the camera so the top of the picture aligns with the top of the white event on his garage end. That should cover you unless he sits on his roof going crazy.

The camera is positioned and pointed to cover the PUBLIC road in front of it. The camera is of no use if it doesn't cover what was originally planned for it to see. Realistically, I was hoping the max zoom would get in a little tighter, but no dice. I really need a B54IR-Z4E here, but money is a little tight at the moment. But it wouldn't matter what camera was there or how it was pointed, he'd still have a problem with it because it is there.

The camera's ROI is centered on the middle of the cult-de-sac. Again, the camera is not covering any private areas, as it all is visible with the naked eye from public property, so he has no expectation to privacy in this area. He legally can't complain about it, not to mention he also has cameras covering the same PUBLIC area. The guy is just unbalanced.

As far as him doing something crazy like using a firearm, there's at least 3 other cameras that would pick that up between the front and south side of my house. Shows you how much he knows

I don't like involving authorities unless I really have something to complain about. I was on the other end of that when we put up our green house and I didn't like it.

My motto is, leave me alone ad I'll leave you alone - live and let live. I haven't talked to the guy in 4 years, and I don't plan on doing so anytime soon

If I remove the plant, I will get removed from the property. She definitely knows the plant it there

Anybody with a truck that ugly, should be given back to the Creator for a do over.
Ain't it the truth...I would expect him to be sportin' a Joe Dirt style mullet to go along with that truck! :lmao:

I've just learned that there are people that are always upset about something and never happy. I chose to ignore these types of people...
I hear ya, but some will go out of their way to make sure you can't ignore them. I guess it makes them feel good. I don't know

Tell him I saw your pics and have reported him to the HOA regarding the bare spot in his yard, parking in his front yard, overgrow bushes and parking in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Let me know if he becomes animated. Oh yeah, tell him he needs to pressure wash the algae on his driveway. :winktongue:

p.s. trim the palm fronds on the right side I need a better look at his side yard.

Here is the original view of this camera with the Lorex. My wife would DEFINITELY know it was missing
You need a PTZ mounted here and pointed his direction. Tell him I said he seems like a weirdo and you have given me PTZ control.
